For approx. 40 years
Smb has been producing machines for special applications in the narrow web processing. In this field customers' requirements dominate design and execution of the machines.
Smb produces flexographic printing presses with a wide range of applications, such as labels, casings, aluminium, paper, laminates, substrates, and stick-on papers. Another main field of production are machines and equipment for shirring, rewinding and moistening.
Milestones in Smb history:
1969 | March 13th, Smb Sondermaschinenbau GmbH was founded. Even two months later, they sold their first flexographic printing unit. | |
1970 | The first foreign contract: a 2-colour machine for the production of slip-cases for matchboxes is built. The place of installation is Guyana/South America. | |
1971 | Smb is able to produce a type of machine in series: four 2-colour machines for the inline-operation with extrusion lines. | |
1972 | At the Drupa, Smb presents their first letterset-machine. | |
1973 | The company Zweckform receives a new developed machine for printing and punching of self-adhesive labels. | |
1974 | The marketing and distribution network is growing. | |
1976 | Smb is developing a 4-color-one-cylinder flexographic printing press. Two machines of this type can be delivered at the same time to Vista/USA and Naturin/Weinheim. | |
1978 | The company Kalle, Wiesbaden, receives the first 6-colour-one-cylinder-flexographic printing press. | |
1980 | Two machines for producing covering and separating cardboards and quick files are delivered to Leitz. | |
1981 | Smb is successfully presenting a laminating machine for car mirrors. | |
1983 | A combined book and flexographic printing press for the production of self-adhesive labels is placed in Cologne. | |
1987 | A cross cutter for artificial casings is presented on the market. | |
1992 | Quantum leap in the branch: The first 8-colour flexographic printing press with automatic roll change at full printing speed has been developed. | |
1998 | NEW: UV flexographic printing on artificial casings. | |
2001 | Smb is going in production with the first 8-colour flexographic printing press for printing flat foil with UV colours. | |
2002 | As a new development converting machines for self adhesive film for handles were built several times. | |
2003 | The Fischer Group was founded. | |
2006 | An 8 colour flexprinting machine was sold to Mexico. | |
2007 | A new print deck was designed to fullfill the latest wishes of the customers. the module could be used on CI machines as well as on stack type machines. Customers could deceide to get it gear- or gearless driven. | |
2008 | The Fischer Group was sold to Bobst. Smb staid at the old owners. | |
2009 | Smb celebrate 40 year anniversary. |
